Why Floating Stairs Work in DuPont Homes
Homes in Northwest Landing and the newer DuPont neighborhoods typically put the staircase right off the entry, visible from the front door and open to the main living space. A boxed-in staircase in that position closes the room down. An open-riser system makes the entry read twice as large.

A floating staircase and its railing should be one design. Our sister company, Custom Railings WA, builds cable railings, steel rail systems, and frameless glass guardrails in the same shop as your staircase, so the two are drawn and installed together.
For DuPont family homes, cable and thin steel rails keep the stairwell open while standing up to daily use. Glass panels give the staircase more presence in a taller entry. One consultation covers both, with samples you can handle.
Mono Stringer
Mono Stringer Stairs in DuPont
A mono stringer runs one steel beam up the center of the staircase with treads on both sides. It’s the system we install most in DuPont: it suits the open entries common here, looks clean from every angle, and delivers the floating effect at the friendliest price of the three.
We size each stringer to your exact rise and run and powder coat it to your specification. Matte black steel under white oak treads is the local favorite and pairs easily with the light, contemporary palettes common in DuPont interiors.
Double Stringer

A double stringer sets a beam along each side of the treads. It’s stiffer underfoot, carries wider treads, and gives the staircase more presence, which suits the larger homes and longer runs found in some of the newer developments.
Two beams also expand the design. Thick slab treads, longer spans, L-shaped and switchback layouts, and lighting under each tread all work cleanly. Every staircase is built to the exact dimensions of your run.
Cantilever
