Why Olympia Homeowners Choose Us
Floating Stairs for Olympia Homes and Businesses
Olympia has real architectural range: stately older homes in the South Capitol and Bigelow neighborhoods, mid-century houses on the west side, waterfront properties looking over Budd Inlet, and a downtown that keeps reinventing its commercial spaces. A floating staircase works across all of it.
Floating staircases are the only thing we build. Every one is designed for the space it goes into, fabricated in our own shop, and installed by the in-house team. We make the trip south regularly because this work is worth doing properly.

Why Floating Stairs Fit Olympia Homes
In Olympia’s older neighborhoods, homeowners are updating houses with genuine historic character and want modern function without erasing what makes the house worth keeping. A steel-and-wood floating staircase adds a clean contemporary element that plays against original millwork instead of fighting it.
On the water and on the west side, the priority shifts to light and outlook. Homes looking over Budd Inlet or set among the trees need every bit of daylight they can move between floors, and open risers do exactly that where a closed staircase would block it.
Where We Build Across Olympia
We work throughout the area: downtown Olympia, South Capitol, Bigelow Highlands, the Eastside, the Westside, Cooper Point, Boston Harbor, Priest Point, and out toward Lacey and Tumwater. Both residential and commercial projects are in our regular rotation.
We also serve the surrounding South Sound communities, including Lacey, Tumwater, DuPont, Yelm, and Shelton. If your project is anywhere in Thurston County, call or send the form and we’ll get back to you within a business day.

Stairs & Railings
Pair with Railings
by Custom Railings WA
A staircase and its railing should be designed as one piece. Our sister company, Custom Railings WA, builds cable railings, steel rail systems, and frameless glass guardrails in the same shop as your staircase, so finishes match and connections are planned from the start.
In historic Olympia homes, a slim steel rail nods to period ironwork without imitating it. In waterfront and modern builds, frameless glass keeps Budd Inlet visible from the staircase itself. Commercial interiors usually call for glass or steel bar rails.
Mono Stringer
Mono Stringer Stairs in Olympia
A mono stringer sends one steel beam up the center of the staircase with treads on both sides. It’s our most-installed system in Olympia, working equally well in a historic entry, a modern living room, and a commercial interior where floor space is tight.
Every stringer is made to order, cut to your specific rise and run, then powder coated in the finish you want. White oak treads suit lighter contemporary interiors, while walnut and darker species complement the warm tones of Olympia’s older homes.
Double Stringer
Double Stringer Stairs in Olympia
A double stringer places a beam on each side of the treads. It’s stiffer, carries wider treads, and handles higher foot traffic without flex, which makes it a strong choice for Olympia’s commercial spaces as well as its larger homes.
Two beams also expand the design range. Heavy slab treads, longer spans, switchback runs, and integrated under-tread lighting all work cleanly. Every staircase is built to the exact dimensions of your space.
Cantilever
Cantilever Stairs in Olympia
A cantilever staircase hides all structure inside the wall, leaving nothing but floating treads. In a gutted historic interior or a modern waterfront home, the effect is striking and immediate.
Cantilever stairs are the most involved of the three systems, and we’ll tell you plainly at the free consultation whether one suits your space. On a new build we coordinate closely with your builder so the staircase fits the project cleanly.
