Floating Stairs in DuPont, WA

Why DuPont Homeowners Choose Us

A Modern Staircase Built for Your DuPont Home

DuPont is one of the newest cities in the South Sound, and it shows in the housing. Most of it was built from the 1990s onward, with open main floors, two-story entries, and the kind of layouts a floating staircase was made for. The bones are already right; the staircase is usually the piece that hasn’t caught up.

Floating staircases are the only thing we build. We handle the welding, the finishing, and the installation, all with the same in-house team. On a feature this visible, that single chain of hands is what gets the details right.

Why Floating Stairs Work in DuPont Homes

Homes in Northwest Landing and the newer DuPont neighborhoods typically put the staircase right off the entry, visible from the front door and open to the main living space. A boxed-in staircase in that position closes the room down. An open-riser system makes the entry read twice as large.

Because the housing here is relatively new, the structures are usually well suited to a modern staircase, and homeowners are often making the change as part of a broader refresh rather than a full gut. The staircase alone can shift the character of the whole main floor.

Where We Build Across DuPont

We work throughout the city: Northwest Landing, Bell Hill, Palisade, Hoffman Hill, Edmond Village, Clocktower, and the newer developments spreading along Center Drive and Wilmington Drive. Two-story homes with open entries are our most common local project.

We also serve the surrounding South Sound communities, including Lakewood, Steilacoom, Olympia, Lacey, Tacoma, and Yelm. If your project is anywhere in the area, call or send the form and we’ll get back to you within a business day.

Stairs & Railings

Pair with Railings
by Custom Railings WA

A floating staircase and its railing should be one design. Our sister company, Custom Railings WA, builds cable railings, steel rail systems, and frameless glass guardrails in the same shop as your staircase, so the two are drawn and installed together.

For DuPont family homes, cable and thin steel rails keep the stairwell open while standing up to daily use. Glass panels give the staircase more presence in a taller entry. One consultation covers both, with samples you can handle.

Mono Stringer

Mono Stringer Stairs in DuPont

A mono stringer runs one steel beam up the center of the staircase with treads on both sides. It’s the system we install most in DuPont: it suits the open entries common here, looks clean from every angle, and delivers the floating effect at the friendliest price of the three.

We size each stringer to your exact rise and run and powder coat it to your specification. Matte black steel under white oak treads is the local favorite and pairs easily with the light, contemporary palettes common in DuPont interiors.

Double Stringer

Double Stringer Stairs in DuPont

A double stringer sets a beam along each side of the treads. It’s stiffer underfoot, carries wider treads, and gives the staircase more presence, which suits the larger homes and longer runs found in some of the newer developments.

Two beams also expand the design. Thick slab treads, longer spans, L-shaped and switchback layouts, and lighting under each tread all work cleanly. Every staircase is built to the exact dimensions of your run.

Cantilever

Cantilever Stairs in DuPont

A cantilever staircase hides the structure in the wall, so each tread appears to float on its own. It’s the boldest system we build and the one that turns a DuPont entry into a genuine showpiece.

Cantilever stairs are the most involved of the three systems, and we’ll tell you plainly at the free consultation whether one suits your space. On a new build we coordinate closely with your builder so everything integrates cleanly.

FAQ

Your Questions Answered

A typical DuPont staircase of average size runs around $14,000. That’s a starting reference rather than a fixed price, since the system, tread material, turns, and railings all shift the figure. Get in touch and we’ll measure and give you a real number.
They’re an excellent fit. Those homes place the staircase right off an open entry, and an open-riser design makes the whole main floor feel considerably larger and brighter.
Often, yes, and it’s one of the most effective single changes you can make. Because DuPont homes are relatively new, the staircase is frequently the one element that hasn’t been updated.
Reach out and we’ll set up a free consultation at your home. We will size the space, cover the choices with you, and follow up with drawings and a set price.
It depends on the project. The timeline varies with the stair system, materials, and the details of your home, so request a quote and we’ll walk you through the schedule.
